most of the time, i'm too lazy to blog, but after watching THE BLIND SIDE, i felt so inspired to write something about it & to really reflect whether i can ever have the same generosity as leigh anne (the mum in this true story) to adopt an absolute stranger to become part of my family.

driving past the road, seeing a lonely big-sized man walking towards the sch gym to seek shelter, most people would just continue driving past this man or if we had that little bit of compassion, we'll probably think to ourselves "oh how poor thing" & carry on our everyday lives.
yet leigh anne chose to bring michael oher to her home & made him part of her family. what started out as a compassionate act escalated into nurturing of a big American football star.

homelessness is something very difficult to identify with. given the context of this true story then, when racism was openly practiced in the US, the Tuohy family did what society deemed unacceptable & unorthodox. letting a homeless stay the night at a house is already such a noble act, yet this family adopted & accepted Michael as part of the family.

in writing this, i can only be amazed at how accepting this family is. a stranger n going out all just to be his legal guardian. hidden agendas & motives? that's up for you to go watch the movie to find out.

my habit of pretending not to see, not giving much thought to the less fortunate has to be corrected. i appear to be someone very compassionate, but doing a kind act can never be compared to what the Tuohy did. it's time for me to look into these lives & see the tremendous amount of potential they have. it's NOT in my position to PITY the less fortunate, but to help them to get to where they should be. not to give $$$ to charity boxes only, n pleasantly think to myself "i've done a good thing, pat on my back". but to give my time to these people, communicate with them & show them hard work will eventually get them somewhere.
