enough of the critics, it's my turn to defend "the ultimatum" - channel 8's blockbuster for 2009

i personally admire Zoe for taking her stand not to do botox just to conform to ppl's expectations of actresses looking physically unflawed on tv. she has proven her capabilities as an actress, & acted the role of Ye Yuchen well. it's understandable why a good person can become evil overnight, humans r capable of change, & given the injustice her character has been through, after working so hard all her life to prove her abilities to her father yet these hard work coming to nought just because she isn't his real daughter. Zoe did very well in conveying the emotions & dilemma of being good yet evil. in the 2nd last episode i was convinced her psychotic portrayal showed her personal struggle of who she really is. i especially liked the part when her hands were shivering whilst holding the gun, which reflects the confusion of being torn between gaining justice for herself against doing what's right.

this show has also proven under-rated actresses, like Constance, can really act. if not for these ppl who carry out their supporting roles well, prime-time shows will not be as successful. it's a pity these actresses r not given leading roles. this show has also featured one of the best songs i've heard: "寂寞光年", which is now my ringtone. even though i hear this song everyday on radio at work, i never get bored of this song

the scriptwriters definitely need to work harder to think of more original storylines. i laughed out loud when i saw the ending of red thread ytd, hilarious!!!...both main characters ended their lives by jumping off the building. while i felt cheated that i wasted my time watching the 1 hour finale, i couldn't stop laughing, cos the suicide scene was digitally produced & looked so fake.
