awaiting paradise..

this really had me thinking. in jan this yr, an np alumni called lloyd passed away because of a motorcycle accident (his very 1st motorcycle ride after getting his license). in feb, ziyu passed away because of complications in his heart operation (even though initially he was feeling better). in march, an indo-chinese committed suicide after stabbing his lecturer, shortly soon after, an exchange student in nus passed away due to alcohol overconsumption.

all these people aren't supposed to die at this moment, they're still young n have a great future ahead of them. some take their lives deliberately. death is something unavoidable, though people try to pervade or avoid it. qin shi huang was afraid of dying alone, he burried with him thousands of clay soldiers.

personally, i'm not afraid of death, i want to treasure this life that God has been given to me. it occured to me how accidents can happen, n none of us can ever be assured that we're safe from death, not even a young child aspiring to be the next big thing.

i still rmb the day i received news that Mr. Tham passed away. the shock i felt, the moments of speechless silence. A perfectly healthy lecturer so passionate about the tourism industry would suddenly succumb to his heart, which unknowingly betrayed him.

the fragility of life means all the more we have to treasure our lives here. whether we think our life sucks big time, or we're having a time of our lives here, the fact of the matter is we only have 1 life. what's so bad about this life that we would even want to deliberately take it away. ziyu fought for his life when he was under life support. it's a matter of perspective, no matter what life holds for us, the fact that we're living breathing n not lying on the hospital beds, means that our life is not by chance. CARPE DIEM!

though i didn't know you well, want to take this chance to remember you, thanks for being the energetic guy who gave his all to entertain the taiwanese
